About Sunset
Sunset real estate is located in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. The town has a population of 2,897 and was once the “Sweet Potato Capital of the Nation.” This was at the turn of the 20th century. When the sweet potato crop began to decline, corn and soybean replaced this crop. The town began in the same manner that many towns in Southern Louisiana began. It was a railroad town and was incorporated in 1904. The age of the homes include a majority that was built from 1970 to 1994 and from 1940 to 1969. Approximately 15% of the homes in Sunset are new construction and 10% are historic homes.
Sunset real estate is off I-49, only 10 miles from Lafayette and ten miles from Opelousas. Napoleon Avenue contains a number of restaurants, supermarkets, banks, medical, dental, insurance and law offices as well as beauty salons and pharmacies.
