From a business owner to serving in public office, Joey Durel’s career has prepared him to create a positive impact in the real estate industry and here at Keaty. Since 2003 he has been in the public light, advocating for what is right. He will ensure that each client’s needs are met without settling, with skills such as self-discipline, communication, and public-speaking, all will transition well for Durel when working in real estate.
As a graduate from the University of Southwestern Lafayette (now the University
of Louisiana at Lafayette), he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
This degree combined with nearly 30 years experience in business will allow Durel to flourish.
Real estate is a driven market that must run like a business to effectively broker a deal. Durel
says moving from the public sector back into the private sector is an “exciting opportunity.”
Some of his goals while here at Keaty include working in commercial real estate. With
experience in it before, he knows how to negotiate with landlords and is familiar with both
ends of the transaction.
Additionally, he is the Business Development Officer in Lafayette for IberiaBank.
When his business career was just beginning, he was recognized for his success in the
family-owned business, Durel’s Pet Shop, and Arby’s. Some other accolades include receiving
“Sam Walton Small Businessman of the Year” in 1996, serving as chairman of the Board of
Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce in 2001, awarded the Distinguished Citizen Award by
the Boy Scouts in 2007 and being named “CEO of the Year” by the Independent Weekly at the
Acadiana Top 50 Companies Business Luncheon in 2010. Durel has also received the BI Moody College of Business Award in 2015. Presently, Durel serves on the board of the Lafayette Central Park.
Just as when he owned Durel’s Pet Shops, served as Lafayette Mayor-President, and as
development officer for IberiaBank, his leadership will prevail as he looks forward to upholding
the “Always 110%” standard of Keaty Real Estate. Qualities that Durel possesses which will
make him a great realtor are his enthusiasm, energy, and love for Acadiana. Owner and Broker,
Jim Keaty says, “We’re fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Joey Durel and feel his
experience will bring so much more to the Keaty Real Estate team.” A genuine man who cares
for the Lafayette area, and spent his public career building Lafayette, Joey Durel is welcomed
into the Keaty Real Estate family.
Nicole was very accomidain with my schedule, my home sold quickly, and Nicole was accessible and knowledgeable with every question.
Al and Lacey with Keaty helped us through every step of the process both purchasing our new home and selling our old. When things got stressful for us they remained positive and professional and helped to alleviate all of our concerns. Their expertise guided us to a closing that we couldn’t have been happier with! I cannot recommend them more!
