Scott, Louisiana, is a small city in Lafayette Parish and Scott real estate is in a location that is favorable for the continued growth that has been experienced. The city is divided by the Northern/Santa Fe Railway, which is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway. This railroad’s main line was formerly the Southern Pacific Railway. The town was incorporated in 1907 and named after J.B. Scott, Division Superintendent of Southern Pacific Railroad. Scott became a town in 1960 and a city in 1990.
Residents of Scott real estate are served by the Lafayette Parish School District. A 100-year old Acadian home serves as the tourist center. Scott’s Welcome Heritage Interpretive Center provides information on cultural events and local history and is home to a Cajun gift shop in addition to providing tourist information. A walking trail encompasses an Arboretum located at the entrance to the city when exiting I-10. There are 3 parks located in Scott.
Many who come to visit decide to relocate here due to the atmosphere projected by the city and the friendly people who reside in Scott. A first place recipient in 2011 of the Clean City contest sponsored by the Federation of Louisiana Garden Clubs, Scott also took 2nd place in the state contest in 2010 for its division. Scott real estate is an attractive option for families, retirees, young professionals and many others who prefer suburban living.
